Scripps Ranch Students

We provide safe spaces for all students.

We love students and we BELIEVE in their capacity to be world-changers. This generation is called to do big things for God's kingdom. We want to help support and equip them as they serve and spread God's love in their world.

We have midweek gatherings on Tuesdays at 7pm at the Newbreak Scripps Ranch Campus. We hang out, play games, worship, listen to a message and then disperse into our life groups, divided by age and gender. On Sundays, we have Breakfast Club starting at 10:15 a.m. where we get together, eat breakfast, join the adults for worship and then break into life groups.

  • The 2nd Wednesday of each month, from 7-8:30pm features our MVMNT Night. MVMNT consists of games, prizes, free food & drinks, worship and a guest speaker. We invite our local churches and other ministries like Young Life and encourage our students to invite their friends.
  • Vibe Night is a great event throughout the warmer months where we join up with students from our Scripps Ranch and Ocean Beach campuses. We head down to La Jolla Shores from 7-9:00pm for free food, drinks, games and a bonfire.
  • “The Middle” is a service for middle schoolers every Sunday during our 9:00am and 10:45am services. Students Worship in the main Sanctuary and then head to the East Wing for their own experience with a message, games, and connection.

We separate Middle School and High School students on Tuesdays after the main service to meet in their Middle School Boys, Middle School Girls, High School Girls or High School Boys Life Groups.

We also have a special group over the summer called RISING that is only for incoming 6th graders. We have cookouts and sundae socials and special opportunities for these students to get to know their leaders and some of the students they'll be seeing when they join the student ministries for the first time.

My name is Ashley Henson and I'm the Student Pastor here at Newbreak Scripps Ranch. My desire is that every student and leader knows another person in their life cares about them and wants to know them. That's why I believe building relationships is so important. When I can connect with students, I can invest in them and show them who Jesus is. And relationships are key to helping all of us build a foundation in Christ that will never be forgotten, no matter where we are in life.

Outside of our usual student ministries activities on Tuesday nights and Sunday mornings, we have Invite Nights, Vibe Nights down at the beach, special activities through the summer for middle school and high school students separately, an amazing Summer Camp, and opportunities throughout the year to attend events with students at our other Newbreak campuses.

We're all about serving in our church or in the community!  Our students serve in kids ministry, play instruments or sing with worship teams, learn to operate all the multi-media for weekend services, and are always great for welcoming guests while serving with our hospitality teams.  Additionally, students go on mission trips like our Mexico House Builds and do outreaches that serve the local community together with their life groups.
