Scripps Ranch Students

We provide safe spaces for all students.

We love students and we BELIEVE in their capacity to be world-changers. This generation is called to do big things for God's kingdom. We want to help support and equip them as they serve and spread God's love in their world.

We have a place for all students in middle and high school.

Middle School Gatherings

Tuesday 630-800pm

We snack, hang out, play games, worship, hear a short message and then break into life groups by grade and gender to dive deeper into the message we just heard. The coolest part about MS Gatherings?! We have High School leaders in every life group! This allows our MS students to build relationships with their peers that we know are making a positive influence on student lives.

High School Gatherings

Every Other Sunday 6:30-8:30pm

We snack, hang out, play games, worship and dive into the Scripture through a message. We choose to do this every other week to meet HS students where they’re at, in the midst of a busy schedule, while still giving them a place to worship.

The weeks we’re not meeting for HS Gathering are the weeks we meet in separate life groups based on grade and gender. Life Groups are one of our favorite parts of HS Student Ministry because it creates a space for students to build relationships with their leaders and peers in a smaller setting which allows them to break down walls and open up to a community.

ALL Student Gatherings

Sundays during 10:45 am service

Middle and High school students combine every Sunday for worship, games and a message. We’ve worked to create a space for the whole family on Sundays with adult church, kids ministry and a special service just for your students!

Third Space

Monday - Thursday between 10am-5pm

Students are invited to come hang out, work on homework and just be in our Student Center anytime during the week. Our student center is designed like a coffee shop in order to allow students to feel welcome and use the space more than just for services. Research has shown that students spend a majority of their time in two spaces; home and school. We’ve called this THIRD SPACE because our heart and mission is to create a third space where students feel loved and like they belong (even when just doing homework or hanging out playing the switch).

Ashley Henson is the Student Pastor at our Newbreak Scripps Ranch Campus. Ashley and her husband Josh are originally from Oklahoma but have found themselves more at home than ever in the beautiful city of San Diego! You’ll find them on the weekends with their dog-child, Scout, exploring beaches or hiking local trails. Ashley has a heart for and a great belief in our next generation. Her passion is that every student has a welcome space to figure out their faith, not just adopt someone else’s, and then live that faith out. She loves taking students to coffee, getting to know their hearts and helping them to know just how much of an impact they can make in this world!

Outside of our usual student ministries activities on Tuesday nights and Sunday mornings, we have Invite Nights, Vibe Nights down at the beach, special activities through the summer for middle school and high school students separately, an amazing Summer Camp, and opportunities throughout the year to attend events with students at our other Newbreak campuses.

We're all about serving in our church or in the community!  Our students serve in kids ministry, play instruments or sing with worship teams, learn to operate all the multi-media for weekend services, and are always great for welcoming guests while serving with our hospitality teams.  Additionally, students go on mission trips like our Mexico House Builds and do outreaches that serve the local community together with their life groups.
