Episode 12
In this episode of Beyond Sunday, the team picks up in the middle of the Joseph story — Genesis 37, where jealousy curdles into betrayal and brothers sell their own flesh and blood into slavery. Using that dark turn as a starting point, they get honest about the destructiveness of sin: how it starts small, grows when it's fed, and quietly moves from something we control to something that controls us. The conversation doesn't stay in the diagnosis, though — they talk through confession, repentance, and the everyday power of truth-tellers, accountability, and community to help us walk into the light. Whether you're looking for encouragement, perspective, or a deeper understanding of the Gospel, this conversation will help you continue the journey beyond Sunday.
Sin left unchecked is a monster that grows if you keep feeding it — but grace is always available the moment we're honest.
Share Your Story
The Joseph story doesn't flinch from how ugly sin can get — and neither should we. But every one of us has a story on the other side of it: the confession that finally set us free, the truth-teller who loved us enough to say the hard thing, the moment we stopped renaming our sin and simply owned it. Those stories matter, because someone hearing this is still stuck in the cover-up, convinced they're the only one. Share what God has done. Your honesty about where grace met you might be exactly what gives someone else the courage to stop hiding.
Take Your Next Step
Sin grows in the dark and dies in the light — so this week, bring one thing into the light. Be specific in your confession: name what you did, when you did it, and who it hurt. Then take the step that confession is meant to lead to — repentance, an actual turn in a new direction. And don't try to do it on your own strength; that rarely works. Find a truth-teller, join a Life Group, or look into Celebrate Recovery if what you're carrying needs something stronger than a conversation. Spiritual growth happens when we stop managing our sin and start surrendering it.
