Paul tells the Ephesians to live as children of light, and he's blunt about why: light exposes what darkness hides. That's not a threat — it's an invitation. The moments you're least proud of, the seasons you'd rather not talk about, the things God has quietly pulled you out of — those aren't disqualifiers. They're the very places where His grace is most visible to someone else still sitting in the dark. You don't need a polished testimony. You just need the courage to let the light in and then let it shine.

Ephesians 5 is full of contrasts: darkness and light, foolishness and wisdom, being drunk on the world and being filled with the Spirit. Paul isn't asking for incremental improvement — he's asking for a different source of power. Imitating God isn't something you white-knuckle your way into; it's what happens when you stop running on your own fumes and let the Holy Spirit set the pace. So look at your week honestly. Where are you trying to manufacture holiness on your own strength? Imitating God was never meant to be a solo project. We learn what love, light, and wisdom actually look like by watching them lived out in people around us.
